Stop Trying to Fix Burnout with Bubble Baths

You've tried all the things that are supposed to help. But the problem is that they're solving for the wrong issue.

You've set the boundaries (or tried to, at least). You've said no. You've blocked your calendar for "deep work" that still gets interrupted. You've gone to therapy. You've tried the morning routine, the gratitude journal, the walks at lunch...

And you're still fried. Still dreading Sunday nights. Still wondering how much longer you can keep this up.

Here's why: Burnout isn't a personal failing that you fix with better habits. It's what happens when the conditions, culture, and capacity demands of your work consistently exceed what's sustainable.

Which means you can't self-care your way out of a systemic problem.

Real (and sustainable) burnout recovery looks different. It looks like this:

1️⃣ Step 1: Restoring your baseline well-being

When your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight, you can't think straight, let alone strategize. This step gets you regulated enough to actually see clearly.

2️⃣ Step 2: Identifying your burnout drivers

Is it the workload that never ends? Your micromanaging boss? The culture that punishes you for having limits? Your own beliefs about what commitment is supposed to look like? Let's face it... you can't fix what you haven't even named.

3️⃣ Step 3: Owning your unique value

Burnout takes so much away from you, including your sense of confidence. It convinces you that you're replaceable. Or worse, that you're failing. This step rebuilds your clarity about what you're actually good it, so you can negotiate from strength instead of desperation.

4️⃣ Step 4: Redesigning the work

Only now should you start focusing on the strategy. And sure, not everything is fixable. But more is negotiable than you think. This is where you figure out what needs to change and what's actually within your control to change.

5️⃣ Step 5: Cultivating non-work passions

When was the last time you did something just because you wanted to? Not for networking or for your resume... just for you. This step reclaims those parts of yourself that work has crowded out.

6️⃣ Step 6: Finding your support squad

You can't recover in isolation. You need people who really get it, not the ones who keep suggesting you "just take some PTO" like that's going to solve organizational dysfunction.

I built my 6-Step Burnout Recovery System™ for every high-achiever who was told they just needed better time management. You don't need to optimize harder. You need a different framework. That’s what this is. #burnout #burnoutrecovery #careeradvice #worktok #chronicstress

This is the exact framework I walk every coaching client through. The one that helps them move from "I can't keep doing this" to "here's what I'm going to do about it."

And this Saturday, February 14th, I'm opening enrollment for Your 6-Step Burnout Recovery System™, a self-paced course that gives you the roadmap, the tools, and the clarity to actually recover.

📅 Doors open Friday at 7am ET. I'll send you all the details then... what's included, how it works, pricing, the whole shebang.

But I wanted you to see the framework first. Because if you've been feeling like nothing's working, it's not because you're not trying hard enough.

It's because you've been solving for the wrong problem.

Take care,

Tara
